Ogallala Aquifer Summit: Water managers from the eight Ogallala states to meet in Garden City, KS

The Ogallala Aquifer Summit will bring together decision makers on water use from all eight Ogallala/​High Plains Aquifer region states. Together, Summit attendees will:

  1. Share current approaches different states are taking to manage the aquifer
  2. Explore opportunities for intra- and interstate management and policy options conducive to sustaining agriculture and the well-​being of communities within the Ogallala aquifer region in the short-​and long-​term
  3. Identify needs for continued research, outreach, engagement that can support producers and policy makers as part of a regional approach to developing and engaging in best management practices.

Are you a producer, groundwater district manager, researcher, water rights lawyer, hydrologist, policy maker, commodity group leader, tribal leader or someone else deeply involved in work related to water management in the Ogallala region? If so, please consider joining us for this meeting which has been designed to help expand your network and solicit/​capture your perspective and expertise.

Registration (register at this link) must be completed in advance; we are unable to take walk-​ins for this event. The $60 registration (plus $1.50 service fee) includes a box lunch on April 9, a drink ticket and appetizers at the evening social, and refreshments throughout the meeting. 

Please note that lodging arrangements are to be made separately from registration. See area hotels with room blocks reserved for this event.
